these days, those tunnels are empty, merely a tourist attraction. there's stories that some of those who were shipped through, sold, beaten, and even killed down there now haunt those same tunnels.
it’s a documented fact, or so they tell me.
these days you can go on tours of the tunnels, pay to see the darkness and the broken liquor bottles and imagine your own haunting. of course, being a resident, i've never been on any of those tours. someday i probably will, as i've always felt like a tourist in this town, even though it's my home.
